Great question! We have designed a program that incorporates structured time together and group experiences without sacrificing attendees’ varying needs for flexibility, individual time, and choice. Here is a program overview that, while not exhaustive, should provide some more insight into how we’ll spend the time at Alderbrook:
Day 1:
After welcoming each other into community and onto the land, we will inventory where we spend our time and energy and deepen our understanding of how our body is holding this current state. We will examine our relationship with forms of rest and breathe in the relief that putting down our “armor” can bring.Days 2 & 3:
In our second day together, we will consider what wholeness looks like, explore the roles we play in different contexts, and explore our unmet needs. We will try on a variety of bite-sized ways to fine-tune daily practices in service of sustained restoration. We’ll consider what we can learn from our ancestors and what we want to teach our descendants.Day 4:
On our final morning, we will engage in a culminating showcase of insights. We’ll consider how we plan to bring reflections, relationships, and rituals forward as we reintegrate with our lives back home. We will close with a ceremony to release what we’ve chosen to leave behind and embrace what we choose to bring forward.Throughout our time together, our days will be infused with many different formats for reflection and growth including journaling, guided visualizations, meditation, time in nature, and a variety of indigenous practices. Our evenings will end in deepening connections and centering joy with firepit s’mores, board games, jam sessions, and more. There will also be time for solo recharge time, options for quieter social activities, and other flexible options so that all attendees can find the balance of group and individual time that best suits them and their needs.
